Ushio Aotsuki is a stubborn high school student and the son of an eccentric temple priest who lives his life regardless of his father's claim of another world monster known as youkai. However, as he took care of the temple while his father was on his way, his duties led him to a surprising discovery: in the crypt he found a youkai threatening to be pierced by the famous Spear of the Beast.
The animal in question is Tora, famous for its destructive power, which attempts to force Ushio to release it from the seal of five hundred years. Ushio did not believe his words and refused to release him. But when the youkai outbreak suddenly puts his friends and house in jeopardy, he has no choice but to rely on Tora, his only insurance being an ancient spear if he gets out of hand.
